From 20 to 22 April 2026, the International Training Centre of the ILO (ITCILO) in Turin, Italy, hosted Phase 4 – Training of Trainers (ToT), bringing together 40 participants selected through a highly competitive process following the successful completion of Phase 3.
Delivered in four languages, the ToT programme focused on strengthening participants’ capacity to effectively facilitate learning and transfer knowledge within their organizations and professional networks. Building on the technical foundations established in previous phases, participants explored adult learning principles, facilitation techniques, learner engagement strategies, and effective approaches to knowledge transfer.
A key highlight of the programme was the opportunity for each participant to design, prepare, and deliver an individual 20-minute micro-teaching session. These practical exercises allowed participants to apply newly acquired methodologies in a realistic training environment while demonstrating both technical mastery and facilitation skills.
Each micro-teaching session was observed by an international panel of evaluators as well as fellow participants, creating a rich environment for peer learning and professional growth. Following their presentations, participants received detailed individual feedback and evaluations, helping them identify strengths and areas for further development as trainers and facilitators.
The programme showcased an impressive level of dedication, professionalism, and creativity, reflecting the high calibre of participants selected for this advanced phase. Through intensive practice, constructive feedback, and cross-regional exchange, the ToT programme contributed to building a strong cohort of future trainers equipped to support capacity development and knowledge-sharing initiatives across IFAD-supported operations.
Phase 4 marked the culmination of a rigorous learning journey and represents an important investment in creating a sustainable network of skilled trainers capable of multiplying the programme’s impact far beyond the classroom.
